HAPPY ACORN DAY!

by Heather the Jane

Okay, I confess, as far as I know, there really is no such established holiday called Acorn Day. But it’s that time of year again. Acorns are crunching under my feet. Well, not as I sit here at my computer, but in the evenings as I walk along the street and pass under the oak trees, that cracking and crunching can be heard.

MY LABRADORITE

by Heather the Jane

Isn't this a great stone?

According to what I've read, it's mystical, protective, and promotes intuitive development, among other things. So how could I resist? (Ah, those who know me well ... I didn't even try.)  Besides the crystal's wonderful qualities, this is just plain gorgeous. Not just the crystal, but the setting so beautifully crafted. I picked up this amazing piece of labradorite jewellery recently here in Fredericton.

A REVIEW - LIVING DEAD GIRL, BY ELIZABETH SCOTT

by Norah Wilson
(the Wilson in Wilson Doherty)

Once upon a time I was a little girl who disappeared.
Once upon a time my name was not Alice.
Once upon a time I didn't know how lucky I was.

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends -- her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.

Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.

This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.

As you will deduce from this synopsis, LIVING DEAD GIRL is not an easy read. But dear God, it's a compelling one! I could not put it down.

DO YOU HAVE THAT IN GREEN?

by Heather the Jane

Let me qualify that statement: I am not a clothes horse by any means. I rarely buy anything new except jeans. Clothing is just not where I chose to put my money (books, on the other hand….). I've never had a real fashion sense, nor cared whether or not I had one. I’ve never wanted to make a fashion statement. [---Flashback to the 80s and my acid wash jeans---] Okay ONE fashion statement in my whole life (and I've yet to figured out what that statement was....).

But color crazy? Oh yeah. Green. I'm nuts over green, because it's my writing color.

This is a picture of my handsome son Conor sharing my enthusiasm for green ... and life!

FINALLY! AN ANTI-ZOMBIE NIGHT TABLE

by Norah Wilson
(the Wilson in Wilson Doherty)

At last! Someone has finally invented a piece of furniture with anti-zombie utility. This fabulous anti-zombie night table can be quickly disassembled to provide both a shield you can grip on one arm and a sturdy club to smash the zombie’s brains in. Brilliant!

Read about this and other fascinating stuff at Lost At E Minor, an “online publication of inspiring art, design, music, photography and pop culture”. It’s fascinating!
